3.5 year partner here! customers just want their drink right and they want it with a smile and in a timely fashion. I’ve always been really adherent to the standards, and have only had a customer return a drink maybe a total of five times in 3.5 years. Being a partner, you know some of those were because they had no idea what they ordered! LOL. Customers also love it when you get to know their drink and you make it right every time. It makes them feel important that someone took the time to remember who they are in this crazy world.
P.S. Don’t forget the exceptions to the rules. Green Tea Lattes, Caramel Macchiatos, Iced Venti Espresso Drinks, the difference between coffee and cream base, etc. My personal pet peeve is when I get a frappucino from another store and there are chunks of ice in it that get caught in the straw!

We’re talking about the barista making my drink or the partner taking my order?
I will answer for both.
Barista at counter: I want them to genuinely smile. Maybe ask me how my day is going. Take my order. Give me my change. Then leave me alone.
Barista at espresso station: I want them to say hello and smile when I walk up to the drink plane. I would like them to atleast acknowledge my presence, all too many times they don’t. After they hand off my drink, it would be nice if they said enjoy and have a nice day.
This is just the basics but Starbucks partners seem to have forgotten them. I haven’t had a “legendary experience” in Starbucks in a year.
TO KLER 22: You can order your cappuccino “wet”, which means more milk and less foam. Instead of being 50% milk and 50% foam it is more like 75% milk and 25% foam.
