at 1:02 what is it , ? what is this big cup with something inside ? a Cappuccino? I don’t think so!!!! Mission failed Starbucks. Sorry but you can make a good hot-dog I think it is better for americans. IL “cappuccino” lasciatelo a noi italiani , come noi lasciamo a voi gli hot-dog ^-^” ..come dice gargamella –> che è meglio! ^-^
ive just recently moved from israel to canada, and i have ordered cappuccinos in 4 diff places (second cup, some italian place….i dont remember the names) but they all came very very frothy. I am used to that chrome finish, with art on it or not, i can be able to tell when the milk isnt properly textured. what do i have to order in order to get a cappuccino like that, with the chrome finish i meen..?
Starbucks makes great coffee ice cream, and has a nice atmosphere but as far as coffee goes, it’s tasteless. I’m not sure if it’s the beans or the roasting or the machines but I can’t get a decent espresso there like I can from other chains like Peets. Best bet is to get a good grinder like Rocky Ranchillo and espresso machine like the Sivia Ranchillo or Lelit and make your own.
My solution to this dilemma was to buy my own Rancillio espresso and grinder machines! I roast green coffee beans myself with a popcorn popper….LOVE IT!
I think it is unfair to pigeon hole starbucks as the problem. After all, they are responsible for making most Americans aware of espresso drinks in the first palace. It was the advent of the fully automated espresso machine that has turned this fine art into fast food. Art imitates life. Or, is it the other way around? Our need as Americans for the quick and easy is also partially to blame. But Starbucks did what it had to do in that they kept up with the demand of their customers.
starbucks fulfills all fairtrade standards. it’s just that they don’t buy the license. all coffees have the same standards. it’s called c.a.f.e. practises. and those (starbucks) standards are observed. there is one coffee, estima blend, that is offically fairtrade certified. but i can tell you all the other coffees have the same standards. but i’m sure that starbucks will buy the license in the future for all of their coffees, because, why should customers belive them?
as a starbucks barista, i can honestly say most of my partners have no idea how to make a decent cappuccino. part of the problem is timing, as we are so busy it is nearly impossible to properly train someone, especially since the recession began and money got tight. so while i agree that starbucks on the whole doesn’t have great cappuccinos, if you fish around you will find a partner will amazing foam skills.
i don’t know what her problem is, but if she buys a double short cappuccino at starbucks its just like in italy. most people like their coffee with loads of milk and cream thats why starbucks is selling it like that but you can customize your coffee.
and the coffee at starbucks does certainly not look like those in this videos, thats just stupid. starbucks coffee is great quality coffee and it’s fair trade, so it’s even more ethical that every small coffee bar where they sell regular coffee.
That video ROCKS! It’s the same damn thing in germany. Loving the cappuccino means having a problem. You can hardly find a real cappuccino, you mostly get a watery broth with some stiff foam on it.
I made the same experience. I was in a typical coffee bar in Rome and got some creamy and very tasteful cappuccino. Sooo good even though the man who made it was totally hacked off and made it without love!! But he knew how to make it! How would it only have tasted if he had made it with love?
The traditional, actual main-stays of coffee that they do try to make, they do not craft in the correct way at all. A cappuccino comes as a 6 or 8oz drink, not in tall, grande or venti (12-20oz). When you make them that large, the proportions of espresso/milk/foam are ruined, and you inevitably end up with a poorly made drink.
Yes, they offer jobs to people all over the world, but guess what else offers these jobs? Small, mom-and-pop, skillfully-done cafes run out of business by starbucks
Okay, starbucks does not make great coffee. It makes tasty coffee-flavored milkshakes (ie, frappucinos) and countless sugary, different flavored, whip-cream topped variations of lattes and the like, none of which at all resemble coffee, cafe au lait, latte or cappucino (all of which solely consist of coffee/espresso and milk).
Excellent job!
You really have talent.
it looks delicious!
Hm, two things I’m extremely passionate about; great coffee and the destruction of Starbucks. I think I’ll be looking into this

Barista’s compete for the worlds best cappuccino every year at the World Barista Competition. Look to England.

looks like you have a good story, but Starbucks isn’t the “only” big brand coffee franchise. I would enjoy to see your response and feedback from it.
offt. yeah i know starbucks is bad…. but i’m getting paid for working there
a valiant mission! way to go!
Eso es un latte ignorante!!!!
El cappuchino lleva la leche después de los 14 gms de café idiota!!! no mames!!! BORRA ESTA MAMADA!!!!
Thanks for the good recommendation!

@manumitgitarre I don’t know about the fairness of the trade that occurs for Starbucks to get their coffee
nooooooooooo
I’m italian and , even if I’ve never been tasting Starbucks cappuccino, the espresso is GREAT, even better than that of many italian bars..
