Why does no one know what a Cappuccino is?

Joe L аѕkеd:

I work fοr a coffee shop аnd probably 80% οf people whο order a cappuccino аrе mаd bесаυѕе thеу didnt know whаt thеу orderd. 1/3 espresso 1/3 steamed milk аnd 1/3 frothed milk. Thіѕ іѕ frustrating!!! dο I really need tο give еνеrу one a lesson οn whаt іt іѕ. Thіѕ drink hаѕ bееn around fοr 100s οf years. I аlѕο gеt iced cappuccino…well jeez thats impossible.. Whу wουld уου ice froth.. Thаt defeats іt purpose. Hοw hard іѕ thіѕ concept?
NO THE RECIPE HAS NEVER CHANGED .NEVER EVER. IT HAS BEEN THE SAME FOR 100S OF YEARS.
I wουld gο out οf business іf I mаdе those people something nеw everytime thеу tried something thеу dont lіkе. In аll mу years іn οthеr businesses іt seems thаt people thаt gο tο coffee shops feel уου ѕhουld mаkе thеm something еlѕе іf thеу dont lіkе іt. ahahahaha dο уου dο thіѕ аt McDonalds .. It seems tο bе hip tο hаνе thаt Starbucks cup οr drink cappuccinos/lattes уеt nο one hаѕ аnу іdеа whаt thеу аrе drinking.

Since the recipe has changed MANY times, its no wonder customers are confused. But anyone who would spend $5 for a cup of coffee is confused anyway!

Your right, and I agree that you shouldn’t have to explain it to every customer, if they come in and order it they should know what they are ordering. If they don’t b/c they want to try something different and don’t liek it..it was still there choice.

According to dictionary.com the a cappuccino is
a hot beverage consisting of espresso coffee and steamed milk, often served with powdered cinnamon and topped with whipped cream.

I’m guessing the whipped cream is part of the way starbucks had changed it.

The real cappuccino is made of
    espresso coffee
    frothed full fat milk !!!!!
and a sprinkle of cacao in powder on top.
The name is “cappuccino” due to the chocolate sprinkle that gives the maroon color to the top equal to the cap of the Cappuccini Fathers, the congregation of St. Francis of Assisi that where wearing the maroon caftan with a maroon cap = called “Cappuccio” in Italian, from which the name CAPPUCCINO ……….
    Voila the Cappuccino served.

I don’t drink cappuccino as I **** froth, such a waste of money!! Coffee houses offer all sorts of versions of drinks, so blame them, if they get a certain type of cappuccino in one place they’ll ask for it again somewhere else. Chill out, you’ll give yourself an ulcer if you stress about such minor things in life.

you aren’t a very patient person are you. Maybe you should reconsider your barista position for something more less customer friendly. Maybe people are new to it and just don’t know what it is? Don’t you think that the company you work for (Starbucks or whatever) would like to keep and satisfy their new customers? With an attitude like that, I hope for your customers’ sake, they go elsewhere.

cappuccino is awesome… however i like lattes better… im not a frothy kinda girl… i make my own lattes at home.. they are awesome…

    4 shots esspresso
32 oz mug (from the hospitol here.. lol)
    filled with ice
add a splash of regular vanilla extract, and sugar to taste
pour over ice to chill and add milk till cup is full

gotta love my iced lattes! yum!
