Super Automatics are OK, if you spend a small fortune on them. Otherwise they're only good for strong/inconsistent coffee.

I use a Rancillio Silvia semi-automatic & I get great espresso in 5 minutes from turning it on. Yes I have to measure the coffee on a scale, I have to tamp it properly, and I needed a quality grinder (still cost less than a super automatic).

Good coffee is rarely to be found at the push of a button. Once you've had it, you'll know.

Alton Brown did an episode of Good Eats. Near the end, he was very clear about the kind of machine you should invest in. Check the Food Network site, or possible YouTube, for the episode.

Super-automatics are the automatic drip machines of the espresso world; relatively expensive push-button convenience, much-derided results.

The concept of the super-automatic is to reduce producing decent espresso to the push of a button. It won't produce the sort of results you could get at a super-premium coffee shop with championship competitor baristas, but it should avoid the problem of losing enthusiasm for espresso because the machine is too complicated.

If you want to become an amateur barista, a semi-auto makes much more sense. If you will accept Starbucks-quality shots and don't want to dive into the minutiae of tamping, dosing, temperature control, and the time needed to use a semi-automatic, a super-automatic might be the machine for you.

At any rate, try it before you buy it.

Haha.... well since he isn't using his penis to stir the drink, the smell is probably coming from INSIDE of his body. A caramel frappe (from any joint) has an extreme amount of sugar in it, and McDonald's is no exception. Chances are it's not his penis that smells sweet, but his urine. Sweet-smelling urine is an indicator of diabetes because the kidneys are malfunctioning and too much sugar is getting in the urine. After drinking the sugar and syrup beverage the glucose levels in his urine probably skyrocket because his body can not handle all the extra sugar. Suggest that your friend see a physician to be tested for diabetes or other kidney related diseases.

That particular smell might be influenced by foods and liquids he's ingesting.

Well unless you have smelled it I think we can put this down as a lie... either that or Mickey D's fraps are unsafe, if only

Any time that a person drinks coffee or cappuccino, they eventually have to lose it from their body. For some odd reason, whenever those are drunk, when you pee, it smells like what you drank. It's odd, but that's the way the body works. Hope this helps!
