If you put tea leaves in a coffee brewing machine, would it make tea?

Riley аѕkеd:

Lіkе, putting tea leaves frοm a teabag іntο thе filter whеrе уου wουld normally рυt thе coffee grounds, іn thе regular kind οf coffee machine wіth a pot аnd a water reservoir.

I’m asking bесаυѕе thіѕ seems lіkе іt сουld bе one οf those things thаt mаkеѕ perfect logical sense, bυt іn practice goes horribly, horribly wrοng.

    it will work just fine

I have done it, it is okay if you don’t need your tea real strong.

  • Josh says:

it does make logical sense, but in fact you would just come out with watered down weak tea, as tea leaves need to steep in order to set properly. Its certainly worth trying though.

  • Jerry says:

Do not remove from tea bag. Just put several bags in filter and go to it Sport.

Pouring boiling water onto tea leaves is one thing, but boiling those leaves is another. For a black tea, it would bring out too many enzymes and give you a bitter brew. As for green tea, the water should only reach 180°.

  • Jim says:

It might not do extraction as well, since tea leaves usually have to soak in water to extract the tea elements, but I think you should try it and see what happens.

    It’ll be weak tea.
